Throughout every season, the Lethbridge high-level bridge proudly stands tall above the River Valley and the Old Man River. However, there’s a unique allure to the heart of winter when the river transforms into a solid sheet of ice. Typically freezing only once or twice during winter, the ice quickly gives way when a chinook wind sweeps through. Yet, the river’s frozen expanse, blanketed in solid whiteness, creates a striking contrast against the black silhouette of the bridge.
Captured in this photograph near the Highway 3 bridge in Lethbridge, the Frozen Old Man River flows beneath the bridge. To the right, the high-level bridge emerges from the snow-covered coolies, gracefully spanning over the Old Man River. On the left, the starkness of barren trees sharply contrasts against the white sky and frozen river. The trees, blending more with the bridge than any other element in the picture, create a captivating scene. This particular image has become one of my more popular prints.
Bridge in Winter with frozen river is printed on a photo metallic paper and coated with a refined leather-texture laminate. This image possesses a timeless quality. Regardless of size or decor, it is sure to stand out and find a fitting place within any home or office.
Moreover, it makes for an excellent gift, especially for those connected to Lethbridge or individuals transitioning away from the city.
