Waterton Winters Drive B&W
The road that winds its way to Waterton Lakes National Park in Southern Alberta, Canada, seems to beckon, transporting you to a bygone era when life was simpler. During my morning journey to Waterton, I couldn’t resist pulling over to marvel at the captivating view down the road leading to the mountains. While I snapped several color photographs, a magnetic pull drew me toward a more monochromatic representation.
Upon converting the image to black and white, its allure was undeniable, yet it still felt incomplete. After multiple adjustments, I focused on enhancing the contrast and introducing a subtle grain to evoke a sense of nostalgia. The final result resembled a photograph taken in the late ’50s, imparting a vintage charm that suited the scene perfectly. The car traveling towards the mountains could easily be mistaken for one from the ’50s, ’60s, or ’70s, symbolizing a family embarking on a timeless journey to relish the beauty of Waterton Lakes National Park.
